CMSL- GW11 review

There were narrow wins, important victories and then what Churchtown Massive did to Swindon Devils. Another fast and frantic week of Super League action has come and gone and another week of drama was enjoyed.

Relive the action as Bolton Phoenix boss Ryan joined Martin on comms.

Winning run comes to an end

Ardsley Celtics eight game winning run has come to an end at the hands of a smarting Palmerthinaikos.

The out of sorts hosts deployed a new tactic but must have feared the worst when Trezeguet was taken off injured after just 3 mins.

The opening goal came from a surprise source as Georgatos popped up before half time.

Henry made it two in the second half and to add insult to injury Ardsley had a penalty turned down.

Palmerthinaikos- It’s about time we stopped the outrageous run of bad luck and actually scored a couple of goals. To beat Ardsley after their run is a great achievement and hopefully a platform to make a run at the top two again. Vallen next week, difficult game, but renewed confidence in the squad. Removing wasters like Sand and Gerard from the squad is a priority.

Ardsley- Decent performance without picking up any points, fair play to Palmerthinaikos who I think fully deserved the win. It’ll be interesting to see how the players bounce back from a defeat and will test their character no doubt. It’s funny how things in football can turn on their heads this time last week we were 8 wins on the bounce looking great now we’re in a position where we’ve only scored 4 in our last 5 games and really need someone to step up on the goals front if we’re to continue our decent start to the season!

Churchtown Massive win, Swindon Massive problems.

If this were a Boxing match the towel would have been thrown very early. Churchtown massacred their hosts as five different scorers contributed to arguably the most one-sided fixture in Super League history.

Churchtown- Absolutely smashed swindon. Delighted with that result after there were a few words in the build up. We really showed our class. Romeo came in and did excellent so it will be hard to look past him for the next game. We’ve scored around 10 more goals than the next best team so we are purring right now. Devils were just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Magnificent Midlothian win again

The runaway train that is Midlothian comprehensively despatched of Dragon Destroyers to maintain their fabulous form and pursuit of the top two.

They were 1-0 up at half time of what was a fairly even game before Alex made it 2-0.

Vieri missed the chance to make it 3 as sub Rogerio saved a penalty following Carini red card but Bak soon wrapped up the game and points.

Post match questions were asked if Dragons have a goalkeeper crisis.

Dragons- There’s not really much to say, we were beaten by a much better side who are full of confidence from their recent run, some very poor performances from our boys yet again, will defo mix things up for game v Btec

Early Bedtime Derby sends fans to sleep

The tactical tussle between Aster Athletic and Vallen United ended in a stalemate.

Vallen, whose line up against the injury ravaged opposition was brought into question, arguably shaded the intent but failed to capitalise.

Aster ended the game the stronger and will be equally disappointed not to win.

Aster- A hard fought 0-0 with a depleted team against play of final favourites Vallen United. Alan Smith missed an absolute sitter for us late on, how he fluffed that open goal I’ll never know. We go to Chudley next week with hopefully our strongest line up and need to secure a win.

Bolton attacking masterclass piles pressure on Chudley

If a game can be called as both virtually even and completely one-sided this is it as Bolton Phoenix and Chudley Cannons played out an entertaining, end-to-end, fixture which ended in complete disaster for the visitors.

The pressure had been mounting on the hosts after one of the worst early defences of the title in Super League history, but this 4-0 win keeps them very much on target to sneak a top six finish.

Draw not enough for Hornets or Hooligans

There has been so much talk about the attacking options of Hoddesdon Hornets that when both Batistuta and Tsigalko both score and they don’t win you know there are problems.

In fact Tsigalko scored in the 90th minute to rescue a deserved point after Aimar brace looked to have won it for Hooligans who were a different animal in the second half.

Hoddesdon- Mixed feelings on the game. Delighted we finally scored again (twice!!) delighted with the last minute equaliser. However, disappointed that we failed to win another game that we dominated, especially first half.

Hooligans- well we lose two points at the injury time again. playoffs seems more distant. We still miss dinho but Aimar is doing great, and for the teams interested: hes unavailable for transfer!

Sloths Survival Starts Now

After weeks of pundits saying Sloths are getting there, they turn in possibly their best performance under the current management.

Ballack opened the scoring early despite Btec reverting to a 5-4-1 to stop conceding. Pizarro levelled things up on the stroke of half time.

It was Kezman who proved to be the match winner with his strike in the second half.
