CMSL SHORT- 1 year on

Sunday night the fourteen Super League sides competed in their fifth round of games, but how has their start been compared to last year?

As a collective they have scored fewer goals. 129 were scored in the opening 5 games of last season- just 123 this campaign. But how about the clubs individually?

Year on year comparison

Position

Both Ardsley Celtic and Bolton Phoenix have made the most improved starts gaining 8 places from the same period last season.

Hoddesdon Hornets and Aster Athletic have both dropped 7 places apiece.

Points

The same top four have understandably gained more points than the same period with Bolton SEVEN points better off.

Aster are nine points worse off while the stats remind us Somerset Sloths had an equally terrible start last term.

Goals

The impressive starts by Ardsley and Bolton can be attributed to the extra goals scored while Hoddesdon are already TEN goals down on last year. Suggestions of Batistuta needing more game time is clear here.

Conceded

Swindon Devils keep being attributed with looking better yet are only one place and four points better off than last season. The reason they give the impression of improving is they have conceded FOURTEEN fewer goals than the same period last term.

Palmerthinaikos boss Chris Mc has been praised for their fine start and you can see a significant difference in their defensive record.

Chudley Cannons boss Scott promised entertaining football and they have shipped six more goals than under the previous regime.

Dragons however have conceded twelve more in their five games.
