Week 5 review

Vallen United maintained their unbeaten despite some fascinating tactical choices. Roy Keane was ‘rested’ while Totti was positioned in a more withdrawn role.

Despite another tactical change from Dragons they lost again leading to Carini being questioned by pundits.

Two first half goals from Shevchenko was enough to earn the points.

Palmerthinaikos fine start to the season continued with a statement victory over Churchtown Massive.

The visitors seemed to set up much more attacking minded and were comfortable leaving the talented duo of Udeze and Cannavaro.

Clearly worried by their perceived drop in form, Churchtown made a tactical change and it completely backfired. Ambrosini put Palmerthinaikos ahead at half time. A second half brace from Trezeguet, either side of a Olisadebe consolation, ensured the impressive three points.

The Ardsley Celtic juggernaut continued at a canter as they knocked off Btec in a very entertaining encounter.

Morientes and Madeira put them two up at half time and Said all but ended the contest shortly after from the spot. Palermo made the score respectable late on but the result wasn’t the only negative for the preseason title favourites as Emerson was taken off injured.

Bolton Phoenix refused to lay on their Championship laurels by giving Isaksson a surprise debut against goalless Sloths.

The Somerset side opted for a Vallen-esq tactic which played straight into Bolton hands with their wide men.

Patsatzoglou was sent off after twenty so it was a back to the walls job. Despite a valiant effort Zambrotta, Figo and Montella earned the points.

Hooligans and Aster played out the battle of the Super Narrow and it did not disappoint.

Hooligans made the surprise choice of dropping Emerton but nobody cared when Mendieta gave them the lead. His absence was noticeable as Kutuzov equalised shortly after half time.

Oliseh put his side ahead again on 75 but Vogel looked to have earned a draw 7 minutes from time. That was until Swedish sensation Kenedy Bakircioglu was on hand again to win it for his side.

Chudley Cannons picked up a crucial three points at home to Midlothian. First half goals from Bouma and Kerr was enough for the points.

Hoddesdon recalled Batistuta to the team against Swindon Devils and also threw in a raw Moukoko. The Gods of fate were not on their side though. A disallowed goal and a red card cost them two points as their dominance was not properly rewarded.

Team of the Week

Congratulations to Palmerthinaikos Chris for winning Manager of the Week. A slight shock in Player of the Week as Paolo Montero wins.

What the managers said

@Vallenunited

Delighted with the start of season and last week was no difference. Shevchenko is proving to the world that he is unstopable when in form.

A lot of players on international duty, will be a hugely rotated squad.

@palmerthinaiko1

Unbelievable result, I don’t think anyone expected that. It just shows the unpredictability of this league.

Really happy with the report. It basically shows I’m better than my predecessor, perhaps the voices of dissension will shut up and die of obesity from humble pie.

Full squad available bar Georgatos, subtle rotation probably again. Full expecting a tough game against weapons grade sh***houses.

@Ardsleyceltic1

Delighted! I’ve made it very clear from week one that Btec are a side that should by in the final reckoning come round 26 so to do a thoroughly professional job on them was enjoyable, we aren’t getting carried away with ourselves as a decent start last year quickly turned sour, although with Madeira in the side we look a bit more dangerous.

It’s nice people are shining light onto the improvements we’ve made but personally I don’t get too carried away with stats, I don’t need reports to tell me we still concede too many goals, I’m more interested in looking forward to next week as in preparation for hools rather than looking back at previous weeks.

We travel away to hools next which should be a great match given we both attack better than we defend’ squad availability sees Chivu again miss out with injury, Nikiforenko and Tristan come back into the attack with Volodenkov given an experimental role up front on the left, Stankovic also make his first start of the season as Said along with Morientes miss out due to international duty.

@Boltonphoenixcm

Solid victory, dominant from start to finish and we were knocking on the door from the first minute. Sloths unlucky with the red but it wouldn’t of effected the result. The front pairing have been performing great as a duo so far this season and long may it continue.

We had a terrible start last year so it’s nice to see that we are doing better even if we are not at the level we want to be at yet.

We are missing Brown and Ruslan due to international duty and Zenoni is missing through injury. Damiano is the only one who would have started. Aster are always tough proposition, similarly to us they have had a challenging start but have got quality throughout. It’s a home game though so we are expecting 3 points.

@Churchtownmfc

Really disappointed in the performance. We’ll go back to our typical 3 up top against Vallen. We need to get our bite back. I think Coco may have played his last game.

Hooligans manager was too Ill to attend media and so we wish him all the best

Pre match thoughts

@AsterAthleticFC

We felt we were worth a point at Hools, but are conceding far too many goals away from home, The start has been slow with a couple of last seasons big stars not up to par yet. There will be an unique change in tactics for the next match at Bolton Phoenix in order to address the travel problems. This could be inspirational or backfire spectacularly. However, the recent warm up match against the other club in Ryan’s town gives us a much needed confidence boost.

@Midlothianclub

The assistant took duties this week

@Chudleyf

Looking forward to this weeks clash with BTEC, a side strongly fancied for top 4 pre season. They have done some great business and made a solid start so will be a real tough test for us. As with last week the key for us will be to keep them at bay early doors, avoid conceding first 20 mins. We will then look to grow into the game and be ruthless when our opportunities present themselves. Impressed with 1-11 last week so we head into the game unchanged. One change on the bench- Vrede in for Agathe who is on international duty.

@Hoddshornets

Bit disappointed last week. Despite the sending off we dominated and should of won. Frustrated at the minute as we are playing well but not getting results. It’s early days so not concerned about the report. International duty robs us of batistuta and helguera. Felipe is suspended.

@SDCMFC

@Dragondestroycm

We were second best from the start. We were playing a side who are top class and on a great run again, they simply had 2 much for us

No we don’t lien to comment. We respect everyone’s opinions and know we’ve not been anywhere near good enough, we are missing Kaladze but it will give others a chance

@Somersetsloths

There was an important squad update made by the Super League chairman ahead of this week’s action.

Here are the thoughts of the fans pre match…

As the CM0102 community continues to grow we would like to wish our friends over at CM0102: The Rivals all the luck. The concept sounds fascinating and the brains behind it are superb.
